
| Mohegan Sun Arena Information The Mohegan Sun Arena is a multi-purpose event facility located inside the Mohegan Sun Resort and Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut. The arena was built by the Perini Building company, a division of Tutor Perini Corporation. The Perini company, founded in 1894, has its current headquarters located in Sylmar, California. With many construction projects in the hospitality and gaming field, including the Red Rock Resort, the Mohegan Sun Arena stands in good company. About the Facility The Mohegan Sun Arena is a smoke free area. Video and AV equipment are prohibited. However, disposable cameras are usually allowed, depending on the individual event. Bag check in areas are available for guests. No food or beverages are allowed to be brought in. Arena Suites, which can hold large groups from 25 up to 100 people, offer upscale amenities. A private entrance, private restrooms, spacious seating and even in-suite catering all provide special guests with the VIP treatment. The actual arena spans about 30,0000 square feet and can seat 9,500 to 10,000, depending on the seat confiiguration. Seating can be arranged into 5 common sports event configurations for basketball, boxing, bowling, rodeo, and even ping pong. It also can be arranged to support regular, fullhouse and round concert event configurations. There are over 13,000 free parking spaces and valet parking is available at select locations. This octagon shaped facility can host a vast diversity of events, small or large. Arena Event History Opened in 2001, the Mohegan Sun Arena originally served as home of the Mohegan Wolves. Since 2003, the arena has been the official home court for the Connecticut Sun, a WNBA franchise owned by the Mohegan Indian tribe. The arena has also hosted the WNBA All-Star Game in 2005, 2009 and 2010. The Mohegan Sun Arena has hosted a variety of events from organizations including the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), the American Kennel Club (AKC), and the Stongman Super Series. A vast range of musical groups and performers have also performed here, and continues to be one of the hottest all-year-round concert venues in Connecticut. |
